About Mule ESB

What is Mule?

Mule ESB is the world’s most widely used integration platform for connecting applications, with 3,200 companies in production including 35% of the Global 500 and 150,000+ developers using and contributing to its ongoing development.

Mule ESB is a widely used integration platform for connecting enterprise applications on-premise and in the cloud. This lightweight yet powerful software is built on proven open source technology, leveraging standard development tools.

MuleSoft’s success lies in its stability, scalability, easy on-premise or cloud deployment that is fully integrated to its development studio, security enforcement capabilities, and High Availability configuration. This is why Gartner named MuleSoft as a Leader for On-Premise integration suites and as a PaaS offering through Cloudhub.

Anypoint Platform and Mule ESB

If Anypoint Platform is the series of tools organizations use to develop and manage their integration processes, Mule (also known as Mule ESB or Mule Runtime Engine) is the core engine or infrastructure on which it runs. It can run on-premise or in the cloud enabling the infrastructure for exchange of information. It’s what applications are “plugged” into in order to communicate with each other. You can think of Mule ESB as the power grid that enables data to move seamlessly between different sources, where data is transformed and transferred on demand.

Why Use Mule ESB?

In the past, enterprises developed point to point integrations between different applications — an incredibly complicated and costly process from implementation to ongoing management and upkeep. Now with the advent of Service Oriented Architecture and Mule ESB, dozens of integrations can be developed rapidly and with ease. Generally speaking, here are the key benefits of leveraging Mule ESB:

  • ease of development
  • scalability to process data
  • ability to connect with dozens of different technologies out of the box (robust)
  • grows with your needs from standard to complex
